What Happened? Don's Interview with Anderson Cooper

As long-time readers and viewers of Don's Basement will recall, I was unexpectedly let go from my place of employment in May of 2017. There has been widespread interest in What Happened.

There is also some interest in What's Happening!!

And still some interest in Fred Willard as Mike LaFontaine in a Mighty Wind.

I actually thought that I had made a pretty good adjustment.

When I agreed to do the Anderson Cooper interview, I expected "softball" questions, like about my Uncle Harry and 16" Clincher Softballs.

However, Anderson did a skillful job of drawing me out and revealing aspects of myself that I thought I had put behind me.

Here are excerpts from the interview.

Despite what you might think, you are not the only person who reads this blog. That other person made a comment to me along the lines of "oh, another post making fun of Trump."

Close readers of Don's Basement (and someday I would like to meet you) will have observed that 4 of the last 5 posts concerned the president. This time, I have turned my attention to one of my all-time favorite topics.

Don:

For this particular bit of nonsense, I covered the Smothers Brothers tune, Mediocre Fred. I recorded the tracks on Garage Band. Unfortunately, the sound quality reflected what I actually sang and played.

Pat Paulsen wrote the song. Paulsen was an integral part of the successful Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. A writer and performer, Paulsen at the urging of the Smothers Brothers ran for president in 1968. (He ran subsequently as well. He passed away in 1997)

"Paulsen ran the supposed campaigns using obvious lies, double talk, and tongue-in-cheek attacks on the major candidates, and he responded to all criticism with his catchphrase "Picky, picky, picky."  Wikipedia.

The news as you are all aware is pretty grim these days. Florida. Houston. Forest Fires. Whatever Trump said in the last few minutes. My normal sleep ritual includes listening to Podcasts. Lately, though this has not been effective. Often after listening I become so informed that I can't sleep.

I tried a new approach. On the Internet, there are solutions to every problem that has been devised. I went on YouTube to look for relaxing, meditative music. Nature Sounds, Relaxing Music, Sleep Music, Deep Sleep,  Calming Sleeping Music, Music for Stress Relief,  Fall Asleep Fast, Tibetan Inner Peace Music, and the awesome 7 Hours of Relaxing Sleep Music for Cats and Kittens

Intrigued by this variety of aural tradition, I went deeper and found that the next step was hypnosis. 

There are hypnosis videos for Clearing Subconscious Negativity, Anxiety Reduction, Lucid Dream Travels, Assertive Leadership, Business Success and the Spell to Grow Wings in 2 hours. (Don't try this spell. I still have a sore ankle from my attempt)

Deep, down on YouTube, I found this shocking mind control video. There are no credits or attribution so I can only assume that the video was posted by Russian Trolls.

Unless you are of strong will, brave heart or have a few minutes to kill do not watch this video.

Labor Day: Time to leave the basement and smell the flowers (Day without Trump: Rerun)

It is Labor Day and I am taking the day off to spend more time with my family.

Normally, when you hear this it means someone is being fired or forced to resign. That is not the case here. I already have been fired this year and will actually be spending time with my family.

I have great plans for 5778 including the formation of the Content Providers Union, serialization of the Five Books of Krinsky (now available in paperback) Torah Commentary, and features like "This Song Makes No Sense," "How did this product get so popular?",and peace plans for the Middle East, Southwest Asia, Africa, and South America.
